Stefan Kunz alias DJ Imox got in touch with electronic dance music in the old acid house times with his brother's vinyls, but lost track for a few years due to other musical orientation (Hippie Music, Reggae / Dub). First techno party he attended in 1992 in England. Many trance parties followed. Due to his attitude and musical preferences, the logic change into the psychedelic / goa trance environment took place in 1995. Three years later he bought turntables and a mixer and was a weekly customer in vinyl shops getting the new releases. Beside his love for music and dance, he started exploring the world with intense trips on different continents. So the mixing moved more into the background while traveling, but was never given up entirely in the short periods staying home between trips. Returning from Asia and soon after from Central America after more than 2 years on the road, he engaged himself again more intensively with mixing and organizing parties under the former party label Astral Media. When Astral Media dissolved he got an active member of another party label called Maya Avatar. A series of small but fine open air parties with a lot of spirit followed. He played in different parties in Switzerland under this label also. Unfortunately, no development and progression took place with most members of Maya Avatar and the ideology lived apart. Therefore the group split up by the end of 2006.
The music and production developed a lot in all those years, but for him unfortunately there was not much variety and creativity in the music played at many psy parties in recent times. New dimensions opened for Imox with more space for creativity: progressive psy trance, darkish psytrance and last but not least the chillout / downtempo section that opens horizons and gives space for many influences – organic as well as synthetic. But the flow still remains one of the main targets in his dj-sets, and he spends a lot of attention to skillfull beat-to-beat mixing also in his chillout sets.
